Course Overview

Introduction

Care Certificate Standard 4 focuses on equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights in health and social care. This online course helps learners understand how people’s backgrounds, identities, experiences and individual needs may differ. It explains how inclusive, person-centred practice can help protect people’s rights, promote equal opportunities and reduce discrimination. The course is suitable for new care workers, healthcare assistants, support workers and existing staff completing induction or refresher training.


Aims

This course aims to help learners understand:

• The meaning of equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights
• Why inclusive practice is important in health and social care
• How discrimination may occur and how it can affect individuals
• The importance of respecting people’s identity, culture, beliefs, choices and preferences
• How person-centred working supports equality and inclusion
• The importance of challenging discriminatory or exclusionary practice
• When and how to report concerns according to workplace procedures


Objectives

  • The Care certifications, which outline the essential skills required to be competent in health and social care, can be utilised as part of your introduction.
  • Before assuming any job where you may operate without direct supervision, you should complete and assess each standard. This may be done gradually and should happen right at the beginning of your job.
  • If you fulfil all the requirements, you may be permitted to carry out the tasks covered by that standard without direct supervision, albeit you will still require supervision in other areas.


This Care certificate is provided via e-learning on the internet. Students enrolled in the Care Certificate - Standard 4: Equality and Diversity course will have immediate access to our interactive LMS, which provides round-the-clock access to the curriculum.

Assessment

Important Information: This online course supports the knowledge requirements of Care Certificate Standard 4. Completion of the online course and assessment does not replace employer-led induction, workplace observation or assessment of applicable skills and behaviours.


Course Duration

• The online care course needs a minimum of one hour to complete. This can be a guide to the educational hours needed, and it depends on how quickly an individual can understand the course. The training is online. It may be displayed over multiple sessions or done in one session.

• Learners will have access to the present course for up to nine months from the date of joining. There's no pressure to finish the course in a short time.
