Course Overview

Introduction

Care Certificate Standard 10 focuses on adult safeguarding and the responsibilities of health and social care workers in helping to protect adults from abuse and neglect. This online course helps learners recognise possible signs of abuse, understand factors that may increase a person’s risk and respond appropriately when a safeguarding concern is identified or disclosed. The course is suitable for new care workers, healthcare assistants, support workers and existing staff completing induction or refresher training.

Aims

  • This course aims to help learners understand:

    • What adult safeguarding means

    • The different types of abuse and neglect

    • Signs and indicators that may suggest abuse or neglect

    • Factors that may increase an adult’s risk of harm

    • The importance of person-centred safeguarding

    • How to respond when an adult discloses abuse

    • The importance of recording information accurately

Objectives

  • The Care certifications, which outline the essential skills you'll need to be competent when working in the health and social care sectors, can be utilised as part of your introduction.
  • Before assuming any job where you may operate without direct supervision, you should complete and assess each standard. This may be done gradually and should happen right at the beginning of your job.
  • If you satisfy the criteria, you may be permitted to carry out the tasks it covers without direct supervision, while you will still require supervision in other areas.

This Care certificate is provided via e-learning on the internet. Students enrolled in the Care Certificate - Standard 10: Safeguarding Adults course will have immediate access to our interactive LMS, which provides round-the-clock access to the course.

• Respond calmly and appropriately to a disclosure

• Explain why they should not investigate safeguarding concerns themselves

• Preserve evidence where appropriate
